Course Eligibility


Educational Qualification:
Candidates must have completed a MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) degree from a recognized medical college or university. The MBBS degree should be from a medical institution that is recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI) or equivalent regulatory body.

Internship:
Applicants must have completed a one-year compulsory internship after completing the MBBS degree, as per the guidelines of MCI.

Entrance Examination:
Candidates must appear and qualify in a national or state-level entrance examination for MD courses. Popular exams include:

  • NEET PG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduate)
  • AIIMS PG Entrance Exam
  • JIPMER PG Entrance Exam
  • State-level PG Medical Entrance Exams

Minimum Marks:
Candidates must achieve a minimum aggregate score in their MBBS degree (usually around 50% to 60%) and also meet the minimum required marks in the entrance exam to be eligible for admission.

Age Limit:
Some institutions may set an age limit for MD Paediatrics admission, which typically ranges from 21 to 30 years. However, age relaxation is usually provided for reserved category candidates (SC/ST/OBC).
