The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main is a national level undergraduate engineering entrance exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to various undergraduate engineering and architecture courses in top engineering colleges in India. It is one of the most sought-after exams in India, with over 10 lakh students appearing for the exam every year.
The JEE Main exam is conducted twice a year, in January and April, and is conducted in online mode. The exam comprises two papers – Paper 1 for engineering and Paper 2 for architecture. Paper 1 is conducted in online mode and consists of 90 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) from Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Paper 2 is also conducted in online mode and consists of three parts – Mathematics, Aptitude Test, and Drawing Test.
The JEE Main exam is a three-hour exam and is conducted in multiple shifts across various exam centres in India and abroad. The exam has negative marking for incorrect answers, with one-fourth of the marks allotted to the question being deducted for each wrong answer.
To be eligible for the JEE Main exam, a candidate must have passed their Class 12th examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as their core subjects. Additionally, candidates must have scored at least 75% marks in their Class 12th examination (65% for SC/ST candidates) or be in the top 20 percentile of their respective boards.
The JEE Main exam is the first step towards admission to top engineering colleges in India, including the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), and other top engineering colleges. The exam is highly competitive, with lakhs of students vying for a limited number of seats in these prestigious institutions.
Apart from the JEE Main exam, candidates also need to appear for the JEE Advanced exam to gain admission to the IITs. The JEE Advanced exam is conducted for the top 2.5 lakh candidates who qualify in the JEE Main exam. The JEE Advanced exam is considered to be one of the toughest engineering entrance exams in the world and tests a candidate's knowledge and understanding of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
Preparing for the JEE Main exam requires a lot of hard work, dedication, and perseverance. Candidates need to have a strong foundation in their core subjects and should be well-versed with the exam pattern and syllabus. They should also practice solving previous years' question papers and take mock tests to assess their preparation.
In conclusion, the JEE Main exam is a highly competitive engineering entrance exam that tests a candidate's knowledge and understanding of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. It is the first step towards admission to top engineering colleges in India and requires a lot of hard work, dedication, and perseverance on the part of the candidate.
