Entrance exams are standardized evaluations crafted to assess the knowledge, skills, and aptitude of individuals aspiring to gain admission to educational institutions or specific programs. Widely employed across diverse countries, these exams span a broad spectrum of academic disciplines and professional domains.
The Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED) is a national-level exam administered by IIT Bombay for admission to the BDes program at participating institutes such as IIT Bombay, Admission to IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, and IIITDM Jabalpur is determined by UCEED scores through a collaborative Seat Allotment Process administered by IIT Bombay. Candidates receiving a UCEED merit rank become eligible for participation in the seat allotment or counseling process.
It's crucial to highlight that result-sharing institutes also make use of UCEED scores. However, these institutes differ from participating colleges in that they do not partake in the Joint Seat Allotment process. Result-sharing institutes only fill a portion of the available seats based on UCEED scores and may utilize scores from other entrance exams to occupy the remaining seats. The UCEED exam is conducted once annually, typically in January. In the preceding edition of the exam, UCEED 2023, more than 15,000 candidates registered, with approximately 13,500 candidates ultimately appearing for the examination.
