For the academic year 2025–2026, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has announced a new fee return policy that will make the admissions process easier for students. According to the new regulation, students will receive a complete 100% reimbursement of their paid costs if they cancel their admission by September 30, 2025, at the latest.

Students who cancel between October 1 and October 31, 2025, will still receive a refund; however, there may be a processing fee of up to ₹1,000. Refunds will be given in accordance with the institution's current policy after October 31.

Cancellation Date Refund Percentage Deduction
Till September 30, 2025 100% None
October 1–31, 2025 100% Up to ₹1,000
After October 31, 2025 Partial Institutional policy

Additionally, schools and institutions are required by the UGC to handle reimbursements within 15 days of receiving legitimate requests. Institutions are also not allowed to keep students' original documents after they are admitted.
