WHAT IS GUJRAT TEACHER ELIGIBLITY TEST ?

The Gujrat Teacher Eligibility Test {GET} is a state level entrance exam conducted by the BOARDS OF SECONDARY EDUCATION, GUJRAT {GSEB} or the STATE EXAM BOARD {SEB} . It serves as a benchmark for eligibility to teach in government run schools across the state .

It is a mandatory qualifying examination for individuals aspiring to become teacher in primary(1-5) and upper primary (6-8) schools under the Government of Gujrat .


WHAT IS THE BASIS OF THIS EXAM  ?

NATIONALITY

o   The candidate must be an Indian citizen.

o   Must be a permanent resident of Gujarat (domicile proof may be required).

AGE LIMIT

o   Minimum Age: 18 years

o   Maximum Age: 35 years

NO. OF ATTEMPTS

o   No limit

LANGUAGE

o   Gujrati only

MARKING

o   No negative marking

DURATION OF EXAM

o   90 minutes for Paper I

o   120 minutes for Paper II.


WHAT IS THE ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA ?

For Paper I (Classes 1–5 – Primary Level) Candidate must have any one of the following:

  • Senior Secondary (Class 12) with at least 50% marks and passed/appearing in 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed).
  • Senior Secondary (Class 12) with at least 45% marks and passed/appearing in D.El.Ed in accordance with NCTE norms.
  • Senior Secondary (Class 12) with at least 50% marks and passed/appearing in 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
  • Senior Secondary (Class 12) with at least 50% marks and passed/appearing in 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).
  • Graduation with B.Ed is also accepted for some categories.

For Paper II (Classes 6–8 – Upper Primary Level) Candidate must have any one of the following:

  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed/appearing in 1-year B.Ed.
  • Graduation with at least 45% marks and passed/appearing in B.Ed in accordance with NCTE norms.
  • Senior Secondary (Class 12) with at least 50% marks and passed/appearing in 4-year B.El.Ed.
  • Senior Secondary (Class 12) with at least 50% marks and passed/appearing in 4-year B.A./B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed.

Section-wise Distribution

Paper I (1–5):

  • Child Development & Pedagogy (30)
  • Language I (30)
  • Language II (30)
  • Mathematics (30)
  • Environmental Studies (30)
    -Total: 150 marks.

Paper II (6–8):

  • Child Development & Pedagogy (30)
  • Language I (30)
  • Language II (30)
  • Mathematics + Science or Social Studies (60)
    -Total: 150 marks. 

WHAT IS THE APPLICATION PROCESS AND FEES STRUCTURE FOR GTET COURSE ?

Application Portal: Apply via Ojas Gujarat (ojas.gujarat.gov.in) or official SEB portals.

STEPS ARE :

1.       Register (New Registration) → receive credentials.

2.       Log in → fill in personal & educational details.

3.       Upload photograph & signature.

4.       Select exam center.

5.       Pay application fee.

6.       Submit form → take a printout for records.

FEES STRUCTURE IS :

o   General / OBC: Rs.350 And SC/ST/SEBC/PwD =Rs.250
