The National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), founded in 1925, is an institute of national importance in India. It is located in Bengaluru, Karnataka. NIMHANS, Bangalore Eligibility Criteria

Admission to MBBS program at NIMHANS (National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences), Bangalore is based on the All India Level NEET exam conducted by NTA (National Testing Agency). The eligibility criteria for MBBS Admission at NIMHANS, Bangalore are:

• The candidate must have passed Class 12th or equivalent with PCB (Physics, Chemistry & Biology) as the major subject with an aggregate of 50% or above.

• The candidate should have also cleared NEET 2021.

• The candidate must be of minimum 17 years of age.

• The candidate should also meet the State Eligibility Criteria mandated by the State government.

• The candidate should also reside in Karnataka at the time of admission.

To be eligible for admission to the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), Bangalore, one needs to fulfil the following criteria:

• The candidate must have cleared 10+2 or equivalent from any recognised Board/University.

• The candidate must have secured a minimum of 50% in aggregate of PCB/M or equivalent qualification.

• The candidate must have a valid score in NIMHANS Entrance Examination.

NIMHANS, Bangalore Admission Process

The admission process at NIMHANS, Bangalore is conducted through a national level entrance examination, the NIMHANS Entrance Examination. It is conducted every year in the months of January/February. The candidates must fill the application form and submit it before the stipulated date along with the other documents and fees. The candidates who successfully qualify the written examination should register for the Personal Interview Round. Based on the written examination, PI and past academic records of the applicant, a merit list is prepared. Selected applicants are then called for Counseling and Admission.

1) NIMHANS Financial Assistance Scheme: This scheme provides free accommodation and food to research fellows selected for admission to the PhD Program at NIMHANS. The grant is only available to Indian citizens and will cover expenses such as the student’s travel to and from NIMHANS, tuition fees, conference fees, library fees, book allowance, etc.

2) NIMHANS Merit Scholarship: This scholarship is awarded to students who have a minimum of 75% aggregate marks in their courses of study. The student must be an Indian citizen. The scholarship can cover expenses including tuition fees, library fees, books allowance, conference fees, etc.

3) Achievers Scholarship: This scholarship is awarded to economically backward students who have excelled academically. The student must be an Indian citizen and the parents’ income should not exceed six lakhs per annum. The scholarship covers tuition fees, library fees, books allowance, conference fees, etc.

4) NIMHANS Alumni Scholarship: This scholarship is reserved for former students of NIMHANS. It is given to support the research and professional development of the alumni. The scholarship covers expenses such as tuition fees, library fees, books allowance, conference fees, etc.

NIMHANS Bangalore has a huge sprawling campus, which comprises 10 buildings with a total capacity of more than 1000 beds. The Institute has all the modern facilities and specialized services in the fields of Mental Health, Neurosciences and Behavioural sciences. The campus includes ECT centre, ICUs, Emergency wards, Mobile and Static clinics, a Suicide prevention centre, Neuroimaging centre, Pathology for basic neuro-sciences, Hearing Therapy, National Brain Museum, Mental health, a de-addiction centre and more. NIMHANS, Bangalore Hostel

NIMHANS provides accommodation facilities for medical interns, nurses, postgraduate, and doctoral students in a hostel located in the institute's campus. The hostel has a total of 40 rooms. The rooms consist of 2 single rooms, 32 double-rooms, and 6 triple-bedroom suites. The hostel also features a common hall, a small playground, a canteen, and a mess facility. 24-hour security service is also provided for the hostel.
